Even though the first day of Autumn was last Friday, it’s still been rather hot and muggy here in the Lowcountry. It actually rained all last weekend which was nice because I really could have used a gloomy rainy and chilly couple of days but while it was definitely the first two, it was no where the last since it was gross and sticky and just not like fall weather at all.
I keep hoping that if I wish hard enough, I’ll get the Autumn weather that I want. So, in order to work a bit of wish magic as well as prepare myself for our upcoming trip to Gatlinburg (where I will definitely get the fall weather for at least a week), I made a to-do list for the season, which is basically all of the things I want to do to really enjoy the weather and the feeling of this special time of year.
- Decorate for fall – hit up craft & thrift stores for mini shopping sprees for decor
- Hayrides – as many of them as I can go on, particularly if they’re haunted
- Eat a caramel apple
- Carve pumpkins
- Visit the corn maze
- Try a Pumpkin Spice Latte
- Flannel sheets on the bed
- Take bubble baths
- Buy/make autumn wreath
- Stay home on Halloween and watch scary movies while handing out candy
- Watch The Great Pumpkin
- Nature walks (bring camera)
- Apple picking
- Visit pumpkin patch
- Bake bread (at least banana)
- Make apple sauce & apple crisp
- Take a moonlit walk
- Another Bottles & Brushes
- Attend local high school football game
- Coastal Carolina Fair
- Haunted House
- Candy Corn – ONE BAG ONLY!
- Buy a cozy new sweater
- Bring box of leaves home from the mountains
- New fuzzy socks
- Homemade apple cider
- Homemade red sauce – make and bottle
- Try apple cider donut
- Take Christmas photos
- Campfire
- Game nights outside
Cannot wait! What are you looking forward to this Fall? I’m especially looking forward to cozy clothes, delicious foods, slippers, chilly mornings on the porch, hot drinks and cuddling under blankets with a good book. Ahh, it’s definitely my favorite time of year!
