One Day

To further elaborate on what I was talking about yesterday – how fascinated I am with the other people’s jobs and other people’s offices, I figured it might be fun to do something like Annie did at turning pages and post a day in my life. It’s certainly not the first time I’ve seen this on the Internet and probably won’t be the last but it looked fun and interesting nonetheless.

Finding the Joy

Remember how in my last entry I mentioned that I needed a good rainy day or weekend to sort of justify my grouchiness and grumpiness?  Then I hit publish thinking that wasn’t going to happen because you don’t get multiple rainy days here in Charleston – you get oppressively hot and bright days where the sun beats down on you and the humidity smothers your entire being then in the evening, you might get a really really good thunderstorm as the weather breaks but it’s always back to the same thing the next morning.

Except that following morning, I was startled awake by the sound of Baxter freaking out and of course, being the mama bear I am when it comes to the fur babies, I shot out of bed and ran through the house looking for him only to find him having a literal shit fit at the patio door because he had been caught in a torrential downpour.  This is all fairly uncommon for him as not only has he NOT figured out to bark at the door when he’s ready to come in but he also seemed no where near as affected by thunderstorms and rain as Sammy, who cowers in fear if he hears a storm on TV.

Happy Sunday!

How was your weekend? Can you believe it’s July already? It really seems like time just flies by so quickly these days, these months, these years.  I mean, June itself was just kind of a ridiculously busy time for us, between going through my Grandpa’s illness and subsequent passing and then my traveling to St. Louis and us having people in to visit and throwing a Third of July party.

I am exhausted.

And that’s why we’ve done nothing this weekend. NOTHING.  Except Friday we drove about 30 minutes out to get some pizza at our favorite pizza joint (JI Pizza, it is so delicious and the closest thing to the corner shop pizza we grew up on in Philly – definitely worth the drive).  Other than that, the only time I even went outside and left the house was when I went to McDonald’s to pick up breakfast (in my PJ pants and t-shirt; drive-thru FTW!).  I reorganized the office, played with the pups, did some laundry, shoved chips in my mouth because I’m too lazy to make real food and drank some (read: a bottle) of wine while surfing the Internet and watching movies and shitty reality TV.

So a successful weekend.  Exactly what I needed.

Meet Baxter

Well, now that I’ve got this out of my system I can move on and talk about other things.

Meet Baxter [1. Steve named him that because he looks almost like the dog from the movie The Mask.  Except I literally just found out while searching for that link that the dog’s name was not, in fact, Baxter but Milo.  Awesome.], the new addition to our family.

On Saturday, after we had gotten back from spending the day at the hospital with Grandpa and before life fell apart, we were walking Sammy around Grandma’s yard.  My grandparents have always lived on the outskirts of town where the houses are not close enough to be neighbors but the yards are big enough to need a riding lawnmower.  So we’re walking Sammy and we see these two dogs come running up – one is fluffy and border collie looking.  It stayed far enough away from us but kept barking it’s head off.

The other one was this guy.
