Shutterfly Winners!

Yay! Time to announce the winners of the Shutterfly giveaway! Sorry for the delay but I usually don’t get on the Internet until after work.

Thanks to all SIX of you that entered – just means the odds were in your favor. I loved reading what your favorite part of the holidays are. Everything you all mentioned, I agree with so I guess we can pretty much say that this is one of my favorites seasons and there’s not much I don’t like about it. Well, except the eggnog. I’m definitely not an eggnog person.

With further ado, here are the winners (I used random.org to generate the numbers and assigned numbers based on the order you commented).

*drum roll*

Twelve Days Removed

I spent the better part of this week fighting off sickness part the second which means I had a lot of time to sit around and go through the pictures that had been piling up on my hard drive since May.

Which means I get to show you these – although they are twelve days to late and we are less than two weeks from Thanksgiving, I couldn’t let this pass by.

Baxter Sammy Jackabee Terrier Puppies
Memes

ABC, Easy as 123

Taking another cue from Jenn because apparently, my brain just doesn’t want to give me ideas to blog.

A. Age: 30. (DO.NOT.WANT!)

B. Bed size: King. It was our present to ourselves when we bought the house, since before that we were in a full size Ikea bed leftover from when I lived by myself.

C. Chore that you hate: Folding laundry. I have no problem with washing it. But actually folding and put away – yea, my second couch is CONSTANTLY covered in piles of clean clothes.

D. Dogs: Two, Sammy and Baxter. They’re pretty much our children.

E. Essential start to your day: Diet Coke, hard-boiled egg (white only) and yogurt.

F. Favorite color: Purple.

G. Gold or Silver: Silver. I don’t like gold, never have, which is interesting because I ordered my class ring in gold.

H. Height: 5’6”.

I. Instruments you play: Proficiently? None.

J. Job title: Systems Analyst.

K. Kids: None except the furbabies.

L. Live: Charleston, SC.

M. Mother’s name: Sandy.

N. Nicknames: Kristy (my full name is Kristen), Baby (<– Steve)

O. Overnight hospital stays: None in a long time, maybe only once when I had my appendix out.

P. Pet peeves: People who block the straight lane to get to the turn lane, people who use their cell phones while doing any face to face business with others (checking out at the store, at the bank, etc.), people who treat animals like property. Pretty much bad people behavior in general.

Q. Quote from a movie: Remember what Daddy always says – an ounce of pretension is worth a pound of manure!

R. Right or left handed: Left.

S. Siblings: One full brother, Eric, who is 27. One brother from my mom’s second marriage – Tyler, who is 16. And two sisters from my dad’s second marriage – Alex, who is 19 and Tresalynn, who is 16.

T. (This was missing how about..) Tacos: LOVE TACOS!!!! Now I want to go to Taco Bell.

U. Underwear: Comfortable cotton, still sexy, at least in my house!

V. Vegetable you hate: Carrots. I’ve tried – really, really tried but I just can’t get on board. Also not a big fan of spinach by itself but LOVE it in anything – like pastas or soups.

W. What makes you run late: I am rarely late – I’d rather be early than late so I’m usually sitting outside waiting for the time I’m supposed to be there.

X. X-Rays you’ve had: Ankle – many, many times. Teeth. Arm. I’ve had MRI’s of my brain, with and without contrast (for headaches).

Y. Yummy food that you make: Steve likes pretty much anything I make – he’s a big fan of my chili and my Italian wedding soup.

Z. Zoo animal:  Any of the cats. PENGUINS!

Autumn Fireplace Decorations
Life

All Decked Out

I’m usually pretty consistent (*cough* lazy *cough*) when it comes to decorating the house. Things get added gradually and I usually don’t change things around often. Even seasonal decorations are rare. I mean, Christmas is obvious but it’s usually the same setup every year. Halloween gets a few things tossed around but I don’t go big unless we’re having a party and we’ve only had one of those because it was a pain in the ass to plan and prepare for (I guess I probably could have not overdone it as much as I did!).

Regardless, things usually kind of stay the same around here. Except this year, I really wanted to get into the Autumn spirit because I was so excited about the season change. I was over the hot weather and the godawful humidity and I just woke up one weekend wanting to do everything Autumn and ended up going to the store and buying all sorts of decorations and then coming home and putting them up and making an apple crisp and then I was done.

But I am so in love with what I did and love that fact that they can last me through Thanksgiving. They make me smile every time I walk in my house. And I’ve also been lighting Autumn themed candles and put Leaves and Spiced Cider in my Wallflowers so the whole house always smells spicy and cinnamony and cozy.

Zoya Nail Polish
Things I Buy

Polish Galore!

When I lived with my parents, my mom didn’t like me to paint my nails inside because the smell bothered her allergies. (I also wasn’t allowed to put perfume on inside)  Thus, I never painted my nails – partly out of laziness and partly because when I would get the urge to do it, the weather wouldn’t cooperate.

However, now that I’m living on my own and make my own rules, I paint my nails anytime I want.  And lately, that has been a lot.  It’s like I’m making up for lost time. With the exception of the past week or so, I always have some polish on and I’m usually changing it once a week.  It’s gotten to the point where the ladies at work anticipate what color I’m wearing on Mondays and will even notice if I don’t have any on.

It’s become a slight addiction.

And addictions are expensive.

Within a short time, probably since January, my nail polish collection has grown from a measly one or two colors that I liked to having so many bottles that I’m contemplating building a shelf to display them on (mostly because it would make it so much easier to get to them).
